The Headlines

What actually matters

Public Works staffs up for winter

Public Works hired 24 people, up from 17 in September. Twenty of them are road crew: seven Equipment Operators, four Operators, a Winter Operator, an Operator/Crewperson, and seven Crewpersons and Division Crewpersons. The other four are an Engineering Aide, an Autobody Technician Apprentice, a Driver Records Assessor, and an Inspector.

Another 17 people returned to the Public Works directory after dropping off in earlier months, most of them Equipment Operators, Division Crewpersons, and Mechanics. Wayne Fitzgerald went from Equipment Operator (Casual) to Supervisor, and Logan Blackwood moved from Business Services Clerk to Maintenance Planner.

Social Development still hires the most

Opportunities and Social Development hired 29 people, the most of any department for the fourth month running, down from 36. Six were hired as Social Workers, two as Child Protection Social Workers, and one as a Permanent Care Social Worker. The Intense Planning and Support Coordinator team added five, including Gordana Kolic as IPSC Team Lead. Income Assistance and employment support added three caseworkers. The department also recorded 40 departures, the most of any department, and 10 returns. Thomas Griffiths moved from Operations Lead to Manager of Operation Support.

Justice fills sheriff and court roles, and promotes a Deputy Chief Sheriff

Justice hired 20 people, down from 33. Six Deputy Sheriff listings appeared, two of which replaced existing listings for the same people. The rest was court work: three Clerk 2s, a Court Officer, a Justice Officer, a Probation Officer, and a Victim Services Navigator. Tina Melanson Stubbert joined as Prothonotary and Registrar of Probate, Stacey Raymond as Registrar of Probate, and Kara Robinson as Supervisor of Court Administration and Judicial Support.

Among existing staff, Andrew Lantz went from Sheriff Inspector to Deputy Chief Sheriff. Nicolle Lovett moved from Restorative Justice Coordinator to Director. Dean Goudie went from Indigenous Victim Case Coordinator to Manager Regional Service Delivery, and Kehinde Akintola from Correctional Officer to Captain. Seven Correctional Officer listings came off the directory, one of them Geoff Hall, who now appears as a Deputy Sheriff. Three Correctional Officers returned.

Natural Resources closes the park season

Natural Resources had 26 departures against 5 hires, the largest net loss of any department. Eight of the departures were Park Attendants and three were fire crew. Ten people returned, nine of them Maintenance Workers. Rachel Henderson, Director, Policy and Corporate Services, is no longer listed. New hires include Sean Basquill as Ecosystem Scientist and a GIS Officer, a Survey Technician, a Clerk 2, and a Park Attendant/Relief Clerk.

Executive Council also added two Cabinet Committee Coordinators: Steve Dionisio-Louro, and Mridhula Dhivyan, previously an Office Administrative Coordinator at Municipal Affairs.

A new director for Home and Community Care
